Daniel L. Mellor, J.D., LL.M.

Shareholder

Mr. Mellor is a shareholder in the firm and focuses his practice on the taxation of small businesses. He has written and lectured extensively on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), specifically the Section 199A deduction for Qualified Business Income (QBI), which will greatly impact professional service, real estate, and other passthrough businesses. Mr. Mellor regularly helps clients qualify for and maximize their benefits under the new law.

Mr. Mellor earned his J.D. at the George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia and his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from the Temple University Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he also received a Certificate in Estate Planning. Mr. Mellor is a member of the American Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, as well as the Camden, Burlington and Mercer County Bar Associations. He is also licensed to practice before the United States Tax Court.

Mr. Mellor is a Trustee of the Camden County Bar Association. Mr. Mellor was previously a voting member of the Executive Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division. He has also served as the representative to Burlington County and Camden County, and as Liaison to the Tax Law Section.

In 2013 and again in 2017, Mr. Mellor was named a New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Star. Mr. Mellor has been published in Tax Notes on the topics of the individual mandate provision of the Affordable Care Act and the specified service business exception to the Section 199A QBI deduction.
